- Tanglaw-Ilaw sa Balay ni Maria
As we ring in the new year of 2023, let’s toast to the first noteworthy activity! The DAS officers in collaboration with the JAPS and PFO came up with the idea of a special outreach program for the elderly in Balay ni Maria Domenica in Lim Extension Digos City. The theme of this program was “Tanglaw-ilaw sa Balay ni Maria”. Through this community outreach, we have seen the power of intergenerational relationships firsthand. Through some of the elderly’s shared stories, the lives of the aged are brought to life and inspired us. We need to revive the spark of vitality when it comes to spending time with the elderly rather than ignoring them, as young people today are focused on the newest social trends. Our hearts were flooded with joy knowing that we were able to give them simple yet special gifts. Listening to oldies’ stories, painting a smile on their faces, and hearing their voices was such an honor and privilege. We hope to organize a community outreach program once more to demonstrate our gratitude not only for the elderly but to all of our fellow citizens.
